2015 Events

  • June, 2015:  Cork-Howard is once again honored by the Association of General Contractors with the announcement of this year's Build Georgia Award Recipients.  The company was awarded two First Place Awards and one Merit Award.
    • Chatuge Regional Hospital (Hiawassee, GA) received a First Place Award in the Design-Bid-Build Renovation category.  Cork-Howard enjoyed the challenge and opportunity to be included in overhauling the hospital's exterior as well as adding an MRI suite, geriatric psychiatric ward, and new admnistrative area; complete with additional elevators and new corridor upgrades.  As with any construction project in occupied spaces, there were challenges; however, as expected, Cork-Howard rose to the occasion and delivered a superior finished buildout, on time and within budget.
    • America's Mart Building 1, 15th Floor (Atlanta, GA) received a First Place Award in the Design-Bid-Build - Interior Buildout category.  Construction in a heavily trafficked, urban environment is fast-paced. challenging, and exciting.  This project used the best talents and experitise of Cork-Howard; fast-tracking, utilizing 4,000 manhours per week during the 20-week, 100,000sf construction project.  The attention to detail and schedule paid off for all stakeholders, owner, tenants, and customers.
    • AC45 and OBS (Grady Hospital, Atlanta) received a Merit Award in the Design-Bid-Build Renovation categlory.  This project allowed Grady Hospital to increase its patient volume by adding 10,000sf of CDU (Central Decision Unit) at its main campus.  Inlcuded in this project were upgrades to the newest technology and innovation for all vital areas of hospital operations such as new nurse call, fire alarm system, fire sprinkler system upgrade, new HVAC system, and new electrical system - just to name a few.  The project included the addition of 20 new CCU (Critical Care Unit) rooms with all the associated medical systems.  Because Cork-Howard has a rich history of healthcare construction, it was well-suited to perform this complicated and intricate project to the satisfaction of a trusted and long-term customer.
  • January, 2015:  Cork-Howard announces its entrance into its newest market segment with the creation of a Retail Division.  After analysis of the current business environment, it was determined that Cork-Howard could harness its knowledge and expertise to successfully compete in the retail market.  To achieve this goal, Cork-Howard added Steven Cowart to spearhead the new venture as Director of Business Developement.  Joining him is Kirk Thomson, Estimator/Project Manager, as well as an additional four staff members.  The company is excited to add this newest segment of construction services, knowing this will allow Cork-Howard to participate in a expanding market segment, broadening the company's construction opportunities.

2014 Events

  • December, 2014:  Cork-Howard is once again recognized for its safety practices by two distingquished entities; Associated General Contractors (AGC) and the Georiga Department of Labor (DOL). The company has a long-history of dedication to the safety of its employees, subcontractors, jobsite visitors and any potential end-user of the facilities it builds.  Consistent recognition from such organizations demonstrates Cork-Howard's success in fulfilling this important and critical objective.
