Marietta, GA (June 5, 2006) – Cork-Howard Construction Company, an Atlanta General Contractor, is proud to announce that it has been named one of Cobb County’s Top 25 Small Businesses of the Year by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.

Businesses were nominated earlier this year, and after a review by an independent panel of judges, Cork-Howard Construction Company was selected as one of the top 25 companies.  Candidates were evaluated based on the criteria published by the U. S. Small Business Administration.  Those criteria include staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales or unit volume, current and past financial standing, innovative products and services, response to adversity, evidence of contributions to aid community projects and overall management philosophy.

Cork-Howard Construction Company has successfully grown in the high-end interiors market, specializing in build-out and renovation; projects with difficult and compressed schedules; and large multi-floor construction.  It contracts with leading business  throughout the metropolitan Atlanta area and has expanded into Florida, Alabama, and surrounding areas.

Construction projects are consistently located in occupied spaces requiring intricate coordination for construction, especially for highly detailed electrical and mechanical work.  The firm prides itself on active management on each project, and client needs are considered first and foremost throughout the duration of a project.

Cork-Howard utilizes a team approach that enables flexibility, versatility, and the ability to tackle complex projects on tight schedules and within budget.  In the complex matrix of construction management, schedules hinge on subcontractors and material vendors, and Cork-Howard overcomes scheduling obstacles by building and maintaining strong, lasting ties with each subcontractor and material vendor.

Gene Cork, President testifies, “We are so blessed to have such a great group of employees and are continually appreciative for all they do.  Regardless of the outcome by the judges, we have no doubt that we have the #1 company; not just in Cobb County; but anywhere!”

The Top 25 were recognized at the Cobb Chamber’s First Monday Breakfast on June 5.  The Cobb Chamber of Commerce represents Cobb County’s diverse, dynamic business community.  The Cobb Chamber is a member-supported business organization working to maintain a healthy economy by bringing business and industry to the area, helping established firms grow and building the community through outreach and service.
