Buckhead Christian Ministry

Buckhead Christian Ministry

This non-profit ministry had outgrown its existing facility and thus purchased a 2,500sf 1950’s residential building on Piedmont Road to be its new “home”.  The existing structure was completely renovated, including the addition of 2,500sf to meet their expansion needs.  Renovating this older residential home into a commercial building on a small, “in-town” lot was challenging.

Creating the required parking, along with storm water detention requirements, fire sprinkler system, new plumbing, and electrical systems on a confined site presented unique opportunities for both the design and construction teams.  The new facility included an elevator (to transport food and personnel from the main floor to the newly created food bank/pantry area) with loading dock, new intake and counseling rooms, a conference room with adjacent break room for board meetings, and administrative and volunteer offices.  This new facility serves over 2,000 local residents in need each year; offering assistance for food, rent, and job training to help move clients towards self-dependency.
